| Healing the Uterus |

I’ve always had a feeling that my uterus is where my innermost guidance resides, and that it holds the key to my creativity, sexuality and personal power. Not until recently, however, did I realize that it also held the some of the deepest pains and wounds from my past relationships. And these unhealed wounds showed up every month as period pains, despite my healthy lifestyle. This insight came to me during a meditation on the last Full Moon, when my uterus told me, “We have some healing to do…” Around the most recent New Moon, I started my menstrual cycle and I decided to dedicate this time for the healing of my uterus. During my meditation, I focused my attention around my uterus, breathing in, sending it love, and breathing out, releasing any tension that’d been held there. At first it felt cold, dark, with little movement of energy. Then after a while, I began to feel the tightness dissolve, and the area fill with warm and golden light. On the first day of my current cycle I felt some mild cramps during the day, so I used a heating pad to warm my belly. Slowly the cramps subsided. That night I didn’t have any cramps and had a good night’s sleep. Interestingly, I also had a much heavier flow than usual, releasing a good amount of clotted blood. I couldn’t help but wonder if my body was letting go of things I’d carried but that no longer served me. I felt lighter, renewed and delighted. “It’s so amazing to be a woman. We get to release and renew with our menstrual blood. What a gift!” I told my boyfriend with a smile. “I feel the exact same way,” he deadpanned… |
